Although there are many ways of dosing mortar, depending upon the specific application, the following instructions and proportions should be treated as a guide, suitable for even amateurs to refer to:

• 1 part of cement.
• 3 to 6 parts of sand.
• Easy Color: 0.5 to 2% of weight with regard to the cement (according to the wanted shade).
• Water-repellent in powder: 0.5 to 2% of weight with regard to the cement.
• Water: as little as possible to enable paste-forming, according to what is needed.

Mix first cement and sand.

Then, add the pigment. In order to reproduce the same colour in several preparations, it will be necessary to dose most accurately possible the proportions of each of the components, with special care to the pigment. Weighing is the best solution, but in most cases, this is not possible. Therefore, it will be necessary to work with a measured volume of each component , making sure that the pigment is compacted exactly the same way in each preparation.

In any case, the mixture must be homogenous and free from entire clods, ensuring a smooth dispersion of the pigment as well as of the cement.

Pour in the water and mix intensely (by hand or by machine) until an homogenous paste, free from lumps, is achieved. Please, remember that too much water in the mixture will provoke cracking or fissures during hardening as well as raising salts on the surface of the mix. Pouring a water-repellent additive into the paste helps reduce undesirable deposit of salts on the surface or efflorescence.

Finally, apply the paste on the surface with a spatula.

Safety instructions: Easy Color is not a hazardous product. The general rules about handling products in powder, such as no inhalation, use of gloves to avoid direct contact with the skin -which will also ease the washing- must be fulfilled. In case of contact with mucous or eyes, wash with plenty of water.

Disposal: local disposal regulations for building materials must be complied with. Easy Color is insoluble and inorganic. It can easily be separated from water either by settling or filtering.
